Wichita Kansas Medical Malpractice & Accident Lawyer

Scott Law, P.A. is located one block from the Sedgwick County Courthouse at the southwest corner of Central and Waco. The address is 445 N. Waco.

Scott Law, P.A. is me Gerard C. Scott, attorney at law. I have been practicing law in Wichita since 1984. Since 1987 I have devoted myself to providing legal representation to those who have been injured. At Scott Law, P.A. you get personal, professional, and passionate representation by a lawyer who has been in practice for over 25 years. I'm not running a high volume operation fed by clientele generated via a huge advertise budget. I don't employ a handful of legal assistants and associate attorneys to do most of the work. I'm not looking to just take on cases that I think will result in big easy settlements. I enjoy the challenge presented by difficult cases, and take pride in being able to figure out what others couldn't.

I'm not afraid to take on a difficult case that is likely to take a lot of my time. Medical malpractice victims don't always have a clear understanding of what went wrong. A bad outcome by itself is rarely is conclusive of malpractice, but sometimes a bad outcome is initially the only thing a malpractice victim has to go on. If you or a loved developed a debilitating illness or injury, or failed to recover from illness or injury, while under the care of a doctor or hospital, it could be the result of malpractice. Some medical malpractice cases would be more aptly termed medical mysteries.

When it comes to medical malpractice finding out who-what-when-where takes a special talent.
It takes having a really good understanding of human behavior. Knowing how people behave in given situations and how they may react if something goes wrong. Call it intuition. You also need to know the medicine regarding the particular medical specialty or issue involved in your case. When I take on a case the first thing I do is review the relevant medical literature. I do what some negligent health care providers failed to do. Medicine is a rapidly evolving field. You can't count on what was written or said several years ago. I've read hundreds of medical textbooks and thousands of medical journal articles.

After reviewing the medicine, I then read the medical records, over, and over, and over again. I have a wife who is an obstetrical nurse, a brother and a best friend who are general surgeons, a sister-in-law who is an OB/GYN physician, a good friend who is an oncologist, and I've consulted with hundreds of the best doctors from the best medical schools and hospitals. I learned early on in this business that you can't count on the doctors and nurses to figure your case out for you. A good medical malpractice lawyer will know the facts and medicine of his/her case well enough to educate the "experts."

The same principles are applicable to figuring out the cause of any accident. Study, study, study, the relevant aspects of the trade or profession, and study, study, study, the facts of your case. If you sue a truck driver, you become a truck driver. If you sue a jailer, you become a jailer.
